You question is a good one, but I have a feeling you already know your answer. I did a search on this in many different places and I haven't been able to come up so far with the shampoo affecting the liver.
My guess is that systemically it is too low of a dose. The simple fact that 1% is available without prescription should tell us both something. I think that the 2% wouldn't affect the liver, in my personal opinion. I will continue to search on this more and hopefully get some clinical reference for the both of us.
So, I guess I will have to sleep on this one and do more research. What does your insert to the shampoo say? I couldn't find it so far on the internet.
