No weight gain, no zits, no cramps with Androcur -nothing but increased hair. The fatigue passed so I'm back up to 50 mgs per day. I can go for days without washing my hair when just staying home. I think we should be staying away from medicated shampoos unless they were prescribed by a doctor. Had no luck a couple of years ago with Nizoral 1% either but there seemed to be more hair in the shower.
I did read an article that Androcur is sometimes a "cure" for FPB. You can wean off it and the hairloss does not return. Read the article on the net but cannot remember where. When I have a full head of hair I will cut the dosage for a few months and if there is no loss I will cut it again - but will make sure to take 4 saw palmetto capsules for any possible DHT. There are medications that correct problems (get things back in balance) and they don't have to be used again. I will always take a minimum of 12 1/2 mgs. of Androcur (1/4 of a tablet) a day just to keep my skin dry. Will probably continue with 2% Minoxidil at night only - for a crutch.
That will be 200 days of medication for $84 - not bad.
Anticipating success I have already begun "My Protocol" in WordPerfect and will re-type it on this forum when I'm satisfied with the hair results. That could be as soon as mid-April. Went out with my sister the other day and made her repeatedly look at my scalp from every direction -she swears she did not see any shine. I did have 3 squirts of ProThik in it and the styling was right for a good cover-up.
My ex-mother-in-law, who is Italian and always had so much hair that she had to have it thinned, has been experiencing hairloss for about the last 5 years. She is 79 and never had zits. This can happen to anyone at any age. My daughter said her grandma's derm wouldn't do anything for her and attributed it to old age. I'm afraid to tell her about Androcur because of her age, even though the package insert makes no restrictions regarding age - I'll pray about it and if I get agreement from the Lord I will tell her. She's so old-fashioned that she might not try it anyway. My daughters say that she is totally devastated.
