I found this site a few days back and have learned more about hair loss from your postings than I have from numerous doctors. I have been losing hair for three years but recently it has increased and I am now losing 300 – 400 hairs per day. I dread washing my hair because I lose 600 - 800. My hair started shedding 4 months after I had a burst appendix and I was told it would soon settle. WRONG. Then due to misdiagnosis I was wrongly put on an antiviral tablet for 9 months during which time my hair loss was severe I was told that this was a common side affect and that when I stopped drug hair loss would stop. WRONG I had a punch test done and derm said it looked similar to AA. Would you accept a “similar to AA” diagnosis? He has suggested I try Aldactone but I am now very wary of taking any drugs. I have noticed that a lot of you on Aldactone state that it has helped with your oily skin. Do AA sufferers usually get oily skin? My skin is extremely dry but that could be because the antiviral also caused me to get Rosacea.
