vThanks for replying and having read sites you suggested I see my mistake. The derm said the test results were similar to Androgenetic Alopecia. Is that AGA? Thanks for taking time to point me in the right direction it’s very much appreciated. The post on CTE was most interesting and I will take a printout to my latest derm.
I have seen 4 different derms and 3 endocrinologists but none specialised in hair loss. I live in Perth Australia so if anyone knows of a good Dr please let me know because I can’t find one. I have had all the tests you suggested. My Ferritin levels were 14ug/L (normal is 10-200) and it took 18 months of iron supplements to get it to a good level. I stopped them for 2 months to see what happened and my Ferritin stores dropped from 150ug/L to 50ug/L. Needless to say I have started supplement again. My Testosterone is 0.9nmol/L (normal range 1.0-2.8), Sex Hormone Binding Globulin is 151.0nmol/L (normal 20.0-120.0) and Free Androgen Index is 0.6 (normal 0.5-6.0). I have had my thyroid tested many times…my last result was TSH2.39mU/L (0.30-4.50) and Free Thyroxine 16pmol/L (10-25). An earlier thyroid test was TSH 4.41mU/L and Free Thyroxine 15pmol/L which my doctor said was unusual but normal. I think he said when the TSH is on the high side of normal then the Free Thyroxine should also be high side of normal. I’ve also had Cortisol tests that were slightly higher than normal and my total White Blood Count is a little low 3.0 (4.0-11.0). Before I was put on the antiviral medication I had never had an abnormal test. When my hair loss started my hormone tests were normal but of late they are indicative of perimenopause. I tried HRT but the side fx were unbearable so I had to stop.
Sorry this is dragging on but I’m nearly through. I forgot to mention in my original post that I’ve lost most of the hair on my lower legs and my eyebrows are very sparse. I’ve also lost 50% of my eyelashes but I think this is due to Rosacea. Also in regard to scalp hair loss I do get a lot of regrowth but it’s falling out to soon….sometimes its only 3 inches long when it sheds. Anyway Michelle thanks again….any suggestions? Do you think I have AGA?
