You pretty much have the picture down, there isn't much I could really add except to say I think it is worth trying.

I had great results for the first 18 months or so, then by 24 I was starting to lose it. By the end of year two I was a bit unnerved. In fact, seeking an answer to what was happening is how I found this site. I lost about the same amount years 3 and now four (four in March).

One thing to bear in mind is that you may very well be different, you could respond greatly, and be one of the few who seem to halt loss completely and regrow hair, or you might not respond at all. Odds are your somewhere in the middle if your hair is not too far gone. Frankly, I take the Spenser Kobren approach: use whatever we have today that works, especially if it works for you to try to preserve your follicles for what may come. I can see no reason to NOT be on it unless you just get no response at all from it. Be prepared to give it at least six months before even deciding if it works, better yet a year. It took me about four months to know something was happening, by six I could see a cosmetic difference and in a year I was in clover. Too bad it didn't last :(

Since Dutasteride is around the corner, you might start Finasteride now just to see what if any side effects you have since you may likely have similiar side effects on Dutasteride. I had some erectile problems with it, and the watery semen production, some testicular ache in months two and three, and my body hair reduced significantly then grew back as my hair started coming out again. Sigh. I will say, it has been worth it for me though, I don't regret taking it ever.

I also take Loniten now, use Nizoral 1% and take supplements like Lysine and Biotin. Saw Pawmetto didn't do jack for me as far as I can tell. Oddly, the Loniten helps somewhat with the erectile issues of Propecia for me. Go figure.
