It's not the total amount of iron salt but rather the amount of elemental iron ingested that determines toxicity.

<20 mg/kg is considered nontoxic 20-60 mg/kg cosidered mild to moderate toxicity >60 mg/kg considered severe toxicity

Ferrous Gluconate = 12% elemental iron Ferrous Sulfate = 20% elemental iron Ferrous Fumarate = 33% elemental iron

(tabs) x (mg of iron salt/tab) x (% elemental iron)/your weight(kg)=elemental iron load (mg/kg)

I would consider Ferrous Gluconate suppliments before anything else, which is what I am doing.
