I wish I could be optimistic about the future but I'm not. There are 2 big barriers:

First, we suffer by ourselves because nobody who hasn't got this problem will admit that it is a problem, because to do so would be to 'fess up to their own negative feelings about bald people. Don't look for recognition, because there isn't going to be any. We know baldness TOTALLY SUCKS, but nobody else will admit it, which makes it doubly frustrating.

Second, I think it will be another generation before truly effective treatments are here. As of now, there isn't a single drug used to treat hairloss that was developed for that purpose (which explains why they don't work very well). Finasteride and dutasteride were made to treat BPH, and minoxidil was made to treat high blood pressure. I have spent too many years hoping that medicine will come up with something, but all they ever come up with is HALF ASS drugs that are hand-me-downs from some other disease that they really care about.
