"But we don't only care about the PEAK level of inhibition. We care about the TOTAL level of inhibition, integrated over each 24-hour period!"
>>No need to worry about this if you take a large enough single dose. And 5 mg should be big enough.<<
But it's NOT enough! We know that, because 5 mg once a day only produces 90% inhibition of type 2!! Why do you keep ignoring that simple fact?
>>But it seems like you have attached some mythical power to two split doses of 2.5 mg. Like it's "guaranteed" to produce a greater (which is another word for peak) suppression of DHT, simply because you "split" the dose. It will not, in my opinion.<<
Charlie, get off this "split-doses-of-2.5 mg" kick that you're on! If you want to do any SERIOUS inhibition of the type 2 enzyme (>90%), you're gonna have to increase the finasteride dose to well above 5 mg per day, whether it's split or not.
<snip various mostly irrelevant data>
>>And we know 20 mg provides no additional benefit over 5 mg in terms of degree of DHT suppression (meaning you won't get that extra 10% that you covet, Bryan).<<
No, we do NOT know that. Please provide some evidence for that claim.
>>Therefore, 2.5 mg twice per day cannot produce any greater degree of suppression than 5 mg. This is simple logic.<<
Forget about splitting 5 mg, and stick to whether or not larger doses of the drug will inhibit more enzyme.
>>By the way, we also know that a single dose of 5 mg will suppress a greater degree of DHT than a single dose of 2.5 mg, which demonstrates that a larger dose will produce a greater effect (up to around 5 mg).<<
And your mission (should you decide to accept it) is to find evidence that 5 mg is UNIQUE in the sense that there's no further increase in effectiveness above that level, until you get to a REALLY large dose like 80 mg or more. It will be a daunting task, I'm sure, to figure out why there's that odd window of non-responsiveness between 5 mg and 80 mg! Are you up to the task, Charlie?? :-)
>>Don't be fooled thinking that taking a small dose half way thtough a 24 hour period provides some magical benefit.<<
Nobody is claiming that. It's the DOSE that's important, and to eliminate any more of that remaining 10%, you're gonna have to increase the dose above 5 mg per day, whether the dose is split or not.
>>Lastly, do not discount the phramacological properties of finasteride. Remember that finasteride is an irreversible and compettive inhibitor, meaning a large push at the beginning is going to decrease MORE DHT than two smaller pushes spaced 12 hours apart.<<
Find some evidence for that claim about 1 dose vs. 2 doses. If you can do it, I'll believe it.
