That was a really bad situation you found yourself in. It's too bad that there are people out there who can act so cruelly like that guy did...I think you handled it fine. At this moment, I can hardly imagine how I could have handled it any better. I think doc was on the right track about using humor though. You could also try to divert the subject like you did, probably a very good tactic. The guy who ribbed you is obviously preoccupied with his own hair loss and is not secure about himself. He figures that if he can bring you down he can feel better about himself. If you divert the subject to something that makes him feel better about himself (would take some very quick thinking), then maybe the guy would be less hostile just long enough to censor his thought about your wearing a piece.
