To me, losing my hair is like a life ending disease. At least a "quality of life" ending disease. In all other respects I'm totally healthy. I went to college.. have a great job and work out like crazy. But... there's this one nagging part of me that's always there.. no matter where I go and what I do. It's my hair and how I feel it makes me look.
There's no physical pain involved with it but the mental pain can be just as debilitating. Sometimes, when I'm having a bad day, I look in the mirror and panic and ask myself, "HOW can I go out looking like this??". It's terrible.
I'm envious of other men that are losing their hair and go out in public as if it's the least thing on their mind. I wonder to myself, "How do they do it" and "why can't I accept it?" I feel that for some, hair loss also incorporates a certain level of mental illness such as depresseion, too.
I hope and pray that a treatment will come soon. I have considered hair transp's many times but I don't trust the Dr's and am concerned of looking like a freak.
I do believe that something will come up to treat this problem. When you consider the technology out there and the advancements in genetics, re-starting the hair growing process shouldn't be all that difficult.
Has anyone else here looked into a condition of Body Dismorphic Dysorder? I have and many of the quaracteristics fits me to a "T".
Sorry so long but I guess it's venting day on this site.
