This is a follow up on my previous conversation with Wolley. With all due respect, I have to disagree with Wolley in that I believe that MPB is 80% genetic and 20% environmental factors. It seems that Wolley believes that humankind is genetically programmed to be perfect individuals whereas I believe that genetic variations, aging and death are the natural state of things and what we are trying to do here is circumvent Mother-nature's plan for each of us. Genetics is largely the key to our problems. Yes, I believe that we can diminish the effects of genetics and the aging process but that is nonetheless what each of us is attempting to do. To suggest that environmental factors are responsible would suggest that if not for the environment, Pee Wee Herman would look like Hulk Hogan.
I suspect that there aren't any 50+ year old males with a head of thick natural head of hair frequenting this board. We all know examples of the people I'm referring to. Men in their 50'-70's who appear to have the same hair they had when they were 16. I've noticed similarities among them.
1. Many are of Scotch/Irish descent.
2. They tend to have flattened rather than rounded/oval shaped foreheads.
3. For some reason, most that I've known personally would say they prefer salty foods rather than sweet (whereas the opposite is true of balding types).
4. Heavy browed/flattened forehead types don't seem to sweat as much in the scalp area as MPB types do.
While I'm sure that there are exceptions to the rule I truly believe that the above is true. Anyone else out there notice any other commonalities among those that either retain or lose their hair on a whole?
Thanks, HJ
