LIF is correct in his quote of the FNS spokesperson. An FNS rep did say that the product would not regrow hair that had been missing for over 2 years. This should not discourage anyone because it is only one (incorrect) assumption. The phrase "absorbed into the skin" can be taken a couple of ways. The fact is, it is never (despite what even some "expert" Hairsite posters claim) "dissolved" into the skin, neither does it ever disappear. To understand this we need to read the TOP experts in this field who know more about the hair follicle than anyone else on the planet. Such expert are Dr. Elaine Fuchs, Dr. Detmar, Dr. Crystal and their associates. These have all either stated or published material that plainly says that the follicle never dies, but in fact is in a miniature state due to the onslaught of DHT over the years. All of them also believe that these follicles can be revived, and Fuchs has proven this (besides proving that NEW follicles can be produced) in the lab. The main problem is the creation of tumors when this process takes place.
The second meaning of "absorbed" can be that the follicle simply gets smaller and smaller and is covered in a coating (whether scar-like tissue, keratin, sebum, etc., according to who you talk to) that prevents them from producing terminal hair. Woolleyman (see Waseda's forum) claims to have a homemade recipe that gets rid of this coating. Let's hope he's right.
Bottom line is, we have yet to see a topical that can work wonders on follicles that have been dormant for several years. We DO however, have many testimonials of people who have gotten SOME regrowth using various topicals -- to what extent, we can't be sure, since it is all very un-scientific.
One day I'll actually give Woolleyman's methods a try, but for now I'm being faithful to just use Growth Response.
God bless,
Trey
