>>I hope the readers of this forum are not jilted in their thinking by those who use semantics or studies out of context to throw you. Bryan and the new mysterious "To You" poster want you to believe that androgen manipulation has little to do with MPB.<<

You must be taking MY semantics completely out of context, because I have never EVER said that androgens or their manipulation have nothing to do with MPB. Quite the contrary: I am INTENSELY interested in antiandrogens and 5a-R inhibitors (especially topical, non-systemic ones), and have spent plenty of time trying to find an all-around, good antiandrogenic approach that's both safe and effective.

>>Until genetic treatments or hair cloning arrive (many years away, sorry), NOTHING will effectively allow new growth that doesn't first curb androgens' role in shrinking follicles.<<

I certainly agree with that! I've only been saying for YEARS that the antiandrogenic part of one's program is very important!

>>The effects of hair enhancers like minoxadil that merely inlarge already existing shunken follicles (and don't address the androgen effect) will continue to vary from patient to patient.<<

And, perhaps more importantly, it will likely be only temporary, without antiandrogenic support.

>>But so long as the androgens are able to continue to march forward, the hairlines will continue to recede<<

Absolutely! See? We don't really disagree that much! :-)

>>My question to Bryan and his supporters like "To You": What is your plan for first stopping the androgen effect (recognized by authorities for decades) that will allow other enhancers to work?<<

I use a few different things in my own personal antiandrogenic part of my treatment: topical spironolactone, topical 11a-hydroxyprogesterone, and topical fatty acids. (Yes, I know those last ones are highly experimental, but I'm nervous about using finasteride. I'm very interested in finding a topical approach that's completely non-systemic.)

>>Do you have something better than what Merck has delivered (finasteride) or Glaxo will offer soon (Dut)?<<

I imagine that what I'm using now is at least as effective as finasteride.

>>Do you really feel you know of something out there that is so powerful that the androgen effect doesn't matter? Don't you realize that your lack of common sense might cause others reading this forum to spend money of bogus treatments?<<

CS, I've emphasized to you that I have LONG recognized that the antiandrogenic part of one's treatment is very important.

BTW, you didn't say anything about what I asked you before: do you have a reference for that claim about pseudohermaphrodites going bald when given testosterone? I've been trying to find that information for a long time! If you can point me in the right direction, I'd really appreciate it! ;-)

Bryan
