Hey, I'm sorry for this long post-

I used 5%Rogaine for an entire year without any hair regrowth, only a slowing of hairloss. I switched to Dr.Lewenbergs 2%Minoxidil+.025%Retin-A formula for two years and in that time I regrew hair. I then switched to Dr.Klien’s 5%Minoxidl+.025%Retin-A for a year with continued success. For the past year, I switched to Dr.Lee's 5%Minoxidil+.025%Retin-A because it was priced the best. What I've noticed is that Minoxidil alone did not stop my hairloss, it took the addition of Retin-A to do the job, probably because of the increased absorption and since it is a chemical skin peel.

Many people don't like Dr.Lewenberg as a doctor or as a person because he seems to be an "abrasive" guy and only concerned with making profits. Also, Dr.Lewenberg denies the fact that Finasteride can help to regrow hair and he even denies that Minoxidil can grow hair, both of which are FDA approved for this purpose. Dr.Lewenberg's formula was the most expensive and applying it four to six times per is crazy.

I've found Dr.Klien to be a better doctor and person with a lesser priced more potent formula. However, you might be interested to know that Dr.Klien got his start with Dr.Lewenberg in the same New York office, they used to be business partners. I believe they had a difference of opinion and a fight, that's why they separated paths. Dr.Klien is pro Finasteride and willing to improve his formula, Dr.Lewenberg is just the opposite except that he recently started making a version of his formula without propylene glycol. He probably got this idea from Dr.Lee. The propylene glycol in some Minoxidil formulas can irritate your scalp and cause itching and flaking.

I've noticed a few things about these different formulas, first the price of Dr.Lewenberg's is the most expensive, Dr.Klien is a little cheaper, and Dr.Lee is the cheapest. I've also noticed different things about the formulas themselves, Dr.Lewenberg's is blended well and is consistent. Dr.Lee's formula seems to be not as good of a blend, because I've had to shake the bottle so it won't 't turn parts of my hair yellowish if I use the spray top instead of the dauber top. The end growth results seem the same.

Many dermatologists agree that Retin-A does increase the absorption of Minoxidil but only to a certain extent for example-

2%Minoxidil+.025%Retin-A is supposedly equal to 5%Minoxidil.

5%Minoxidil+.025%Retin-A is supposedly equal to 5.5%Minoxidil.

I've never used Retin-A cream. I've always used Retin-A with a Minoxidil mixture so I'm not sure if applying them separately is effective or not.

I'll stick with Dr.Lee's 5%Minoxidil+.025%Retin-A because he has the best prices. I won't use Xandrox because I once tried it for a month and had to quit, it caused severe shedding and flaking.You can become one of Dr.Lee’s patients at www.minoxidil.com.

I read somewhere on the Internet that Dr.Klien at www.physicianshairgrowth.com might still be offering a free deal. Supposedly, the plan is that he will give you 3 months of free 5%Minoxidil+.025%Retin-A if you agree to take a before picture, apply it twice a day, and supply monthly pictures as your results progress. At the end of the trial period you will have to pay for continued treatment. I'm not sure if Dr.Klien is still offering this but it's worth an Email to him for anyone thats trying to save money. It might just be a way to get 3 months treatment for free. After the 3 months, you could always switch to Dr.Lee for a better price. As it turns out, Dr.Klien is doing a double blind study on his product Remox, you can read the information at www.regrowth.com. It’s worth checking into if you live in New York.
