Following is a statement from Dr. Lee regarding Avodart:
Dutasteride 0.5mg soft gel capsules were approved by the U.S. FDA on 9 October 02 and are expected to be available in pharmacies by "early to mid-December 2002".
I definitely do not plan to sell it off our website. As for writing off-label prescriptions for dutasteride, I will not do so until I have convincing evidence that dutasteride can be safely and effectively utilized for treating MPB.
As a soft gel, divided doses would be difficult to achieve and I have concerns about the increased levels of serum testosterone and the long half life of dutasteride.
