He mentions that DHEA usage is what might have caused the evolution of Eukaryotes and multi-cellularity, however I have never heard of any prokaryotes that synthesize their own sterols. There are a few, mycoplasmas to name one type, that use sterols from their environment and incorporate them into the cytoplasmic membrane inorder to defeat osmotic pressure but they do not synthesize their own like we do with cholesterol, DHEA, and all other steriods.
Another thing is that he presents his data for DHEA as the cause of all these human development issues. While that may be the case, just showing a spike in DHEA durring specific developmental does not mean that it is the cause rather it could be just be another effect of the developmental process. I don't like his explanation for testosterone, the sweat gland, and hair loss relationship because if the sweat gland were the target tissue then that would be so throughout the skin. He tries to cover that by saying that certain genes are active in some cells of the same tissue type that are not in others which is basically saying the same thing we have been hearing about since the beginning, hair follicles are genetically predetermined to shrink initiated by DHT. And larger sweat glands are a consequence of DHT build up also but not the CAUSE of hair loss.
Interesting article though, I have just put up some arguments that I could think of, I do not necessarily agree with my own arguments nor did I put much thought into them so feel free to bash me. I just felt I should post something since you are using the name I used to and I would like people to see some contrast between us.
