Use your head: whether or not I would have learned anything valuable or contributed anything meaningful DEPENDS ON WHAT I WOULD EVENTUALLY HAVE FOUND OUT, doesn't it? ;-)

Think of the possibilities: if the good doctor had written me back saying, "No, we didn't notice any hair regrowth after 2 years", then I think that would clearly make a strong case for a lot of people greatly exaggerating what dutasteride can do. On the other hand, if he'd said, "Yes, we saw an amazing number of patients with dramatic and dense regrowth!", then that would have been a startling (to me, at least) revelation. As it stands, though, the answer we got was what I rather expected: a middle-ground, unsurprising statement that there was SOME regrowth, mentioned in the same breath with finasteride. So ultimately, it turned out not to be terribly useful, but there was no way to know that without trying.

Actually, I guess you *could* say it was useful: it promotes a more realistic attitude toward dutasteride, since it seems to indicate that it's probably not a miracle drug.
